Mysterious Ways

On Tuesday or Wednesday of last week I lost my wallet. Now, that should have been a cause for serious concern, however, I was simply too busy to panic. Thursday evening Barbara and I were accompanying the HSC undergraduates to see Peter Pan (NB. an amazing show but questionable from ages 4 to 7) and en-route we agree to rendezvous at the Varsity.

Exiting I75 I saw a homeless man several cars ahead and as the drivers clearly looked away from him to reject his plight I commented to Barbara: "if I had my wallet I would give him something" and Barbara (who rarely has cash) mentioned that she had some money in her bag as the Varsity drive through does not take credit cards. Fishing quickly in Barbara's purse I pulled out a $20 note and Barbara gave it to him and we wished him all the best.

As we arrived at the Varsity I discovered that we now had $8 to cover dinner for two and parking and we decided on a burger each and splitting a small fries and a drink; as for parking, we would worry about that later. As we waited for our meal I asked Barbara to put her hand under the seat of the rental car that we were driving "just in case" and she duly produced my wallet!
