A normal Saturday?

Yesterday was a gorgeous February day in North Georgia, clear blue skies, uninterrupted sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70s. The night sky was equally clear with a bright and sharp view of the moon and stars. All seemed to be well in the world.

And then this morning I watched the news and the bubble was burst as I learned of a 2am DUI-crash with a teenager killed and 4 others hospitalized and an unsupervised "sweet-16" party that ended in shootings. As each report unfolded I felt a guilty sense of relief when I realized that none of the young people were part of the immediate Holy Spirit Prep family and a gratitude that we have parents that are prepared to risk being "uncool" by not allowing their teenagers the "freedom" to take these risks. Our prayers should go out to the families of these young people and at the same time our resolve to make the hard and unpopular decisions should be strengthened.
