Will we ever learn?

The remarkable story of the Congressman's resignation yesterday should be yet another wake up call for anyone that believes that there is "privacy" in cyberspace. While the fundamental message for us all should be "try and avoid doing anything that would embarrass you" the concept of placing in the public domain materials that are potentially embarrassing defies all logic. Anything that we post or e-mail can be downloaded, forwarded and / or manipulated. Anything that we post can be retrieved from public caches that record the data that exists on the Internet at any given moment in time. One moment of cyber-stupidity can discredit a lifetime of faithful service.
