Convocation & More

Today was a very special day in the history of our college as Archbishop Gregory presided over our 1st Convocation Mass. Although the college has been offering individual degree level courses since 2005 this is our inaugural year of Bachelor's Degree classes. At the Convocation, the college faculty each received the Mandatum from Archbishop Gregory and as President I was required to make a profession of faith. Archbishop Gregory enjoyed teasing me by publicly observing that it had taken five years for me to "get around" to making the profession. Making the profession publicly to our Archbishop was a catalytic moment for me and will permanently remind me of our responsibilities as Catholic Educators.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth
And in Jesus Christ
His only Son, Our Lord
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit
Born of the Virgin Mary
Suffered under Pontius Pilate
Was crucified, died and was buried.
On the third day, he rose again
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand
of God, the Father Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Amen.

My afternoon was spent at the Lower School. It is so uplifting to walk the corridors and see the joy filled bulletin boards while hearing the teachers and children in the class rooms. Our admin team meeting was largely focused upon the plans for the Seton Center together with the additional academic "class time" enrichment that we are going to offer to students that are exceptionally academically gifted. We are all excited by the opportunities and ideas that are emerging.

Tonight was the Kindergarten parent's party. This was a good group of people but someone had told them that they had to leave in a timely manner therefore the evening ended "officially on time" which I regard as early :-)
