Where everyone knows your name...

One of my resolutions for this school-year is to spend more time on the lower school campus. Although everyone tends to think of me as "being on the upper school campus" the reality is that on some days, once I enter my office door I could as easily be on the Moon except for the glimpses of the quad through my window blinds. That said, one wonderful reminder of where I am is the flow of students visiting for candy or even just to say "hi" when they find that the door is open. This afternoon Kyle Pietrantonio and I made an impromptu visit to the lower school gym to discuss plans for upgrading the facility and found a kick-ball class underway. To my delight one of the players immediately called out "Hello Mr Genner" and the others followed suit. There was a time that I knew the name of every student in the school; that has become tougher and tougher to achieve but would be a wonderful goal.

Tonight is our last preschool / Kindergarten dinner for this school year. From the perspective of Barbara and I, they were a great success. We met many wonderful people and were delighted to see a number of couples start new friendships that will hopefully endure for many years. In two or three weeks we start our "Monday Dinners", these events have a different feel with the smaller group giving more opportunity for Barbara and I to get to know our new friends. Please attend if you have not done so and if you have "sitter issues" feel free to split-up and come on separate nights!
